Join us at the Diego Rivera Gallery, at the SFAI campus at 800 Chestnut Street, for refreshments and fun on Tuesday the 9th of March between 4:30 and 7 pm.
The show “If You Want To Destroy My Sweater” is a collaboration between Melkorka Helgadottir, Mary Jakse Strebinger and Angela Thornton. During the project, the artists aim to let go of control, sentimentality and individual ownership.
Each artist will donate a personal textile to the project, which the group will then transform. The Diego will serve as a workshop, open to the audience for the duration of the work process, as the artists take turns disassembling and redesigning the three objects in the gallery. They will document and display each new representation of the textiles between alterations. The audience can witness and participate in the process of constantly re-thinking the textile objects, which will be completely transformed by the end of our project.
The show is open from Monday the 9th to Saturday the 13th of March.
The hours are from 9 am to 5 pm.
